Welcome to the Codrington Library
The Codrington Library is open to recommended graduates and undergraduates of the University of Oxford, and to bona fide scholars. Students are required to supply details of their area of study and college affiliation, and a passport-style photograph, by email; and to bring a form (available from the Library Guide, and Library Website) signed by their tutor with them to the library when they complete their registration.
The Codrington also welcomes readers and researchers who need to consult unique, or rare, items in the collections, by prior appointment. Enquiries can be made via the contact form on the website (from the “Recipient” drop-down menu select “Library”).
The Library’s is primarily a working library, serving the Fellows of the college, and its readers and visiting researchers, and as such it is not possible to allow access to all those who might wish to see the interior of the building or treasures from the collections. However, via on-line exhibitions and regular blogs, we hope to compensate for the necessarily limited access to visitors.
Please note however that the Library will be open to visitors as part of the Oxford Preservation Trust’s “Open Doors” day – the next being in September, 2015.
